Five drug peddlers held with contraband in Srinagar, Sopore: Police

Srinagar, Dec 02: Police have arrested five drug peddlers in Srinagar and Sopore districts, and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Police party of PS Ram Munshi Bagh intercepted three suspicious persons at a checkpoint established near CD Hospital Dalgate. They have been identified as Yawar Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmad Karni, resident of Abi Buchwara; and Maroof Bilal Kolu, son of Bilal Ahmad Kolu, resident of Indranagar, Srinagar; and Shoib Hilal Lawaye, son of Hilal Ahmad Lawaye, resident of Drugjan, Dalgate. During search, 9.6 grams of Heroin was recovered from their possession, a police spokesperson in a statement said.

Meanwhile, at another checkpoint established at Sozeith Bund, a police team arrested a drug peddler identified as Abid Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, resident of Sozeith Goripora. During search, 430 grams of Charas and 750 grams of Bhang Powder concealed in a polythene bag was recovered from his possession, the spokesperson added.

In another incident in north Kashmir’s Sopore, police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered Psychotropic Substances from his possession.

A police spokesperson said that a police party of PS Tarzoo, at a checkpoint established near Sanctorum Public School Lalad Sopore, arrested a drug peddler identified as Tawheed Nabi Gojri, son of Ghulam Nabi Gojri, resident of Peth Seer Sopore. During search, Police team was able to recover 312 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus from his possession.
