Srinagar, Oct 1: Moul Mouj Foundation celebrated the International Day of Older Persons on Tuesday in Srinagar by launching a first-of-its-kind toll-free helpline number elderly people.

The event witnessed a huge gathering of social activists, academicians, doctors, and officials from various fields. As part of the event, the Moul Mouj Foundation launched the Moul Mouj 24/7 Toll-Free Helpline for Senior Citizens (1800-20-30-337), which will offer round-the-clock support for the elderly, providing immediate assistance, counselling, and access to essential services.

On the occasion, Dr Zubair Saleem said in line with the vision of late Muhammad Shafi Pandit, the Foundation also announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Help Foundation for ambulance services and other senior-related concerns.

“We have been seeing a lot of videos surfacing on social media about the mistreatment of elders. We have launched a mission under the slogan Elders Deserve Better. There are lot of initiatives that we are going to take in this regard. Our toll-free number has been launched today. We will take calls from senior citizens 24x7 and provide all necessary help in health, legal, or social issues,” Dr Saleem said.

He said that they have collaborated with the Help Foundation and signed an MoU that will help senior citizens take various services through the Moul Mouj Foundation.

“We will also have a fully equipped ambulance for senior citizens. Sharp Sight eye hospital will also collaborate with us and they will also provide facilities, including organising of medical camps,” he added.
