First group of Palestinian children evacuated to UK for NHS treatment

New Delhi, Sep 14: The first group of critically ill and injured Palestinian children evacuated from Gaza are expected to arrive in the UK within days for NHS treatment, BBC reported.

The operation is being coordinated by the Foreign Office, Home Office and Department of Health. The group is understood to include between 30 and 50 children, some accompanied by family members.

The UK government is also working on evacuating Palestinian students with university places in Britain. This marks the first government-led evacuation of children for treatment since the conflict began, although some have previously travelled privately through humanitarian initiatives.
