FIRs registered against 5 Katra lodges for not installing CCTV cameras

Jammu, July 11: Police Thursday registered FIRs against five lodge owners at Katra for not installing CCTV cameras.

SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma, while sharing the information, stated that in compliance with the order of District Magistrate Reasi regarding the installation of CCTV cameras at hotels, lodges, and medical shops, the Police conducted a surprise checking at Katra town on July 11.

“During an inspection of hotels and lodges at Katra, five lodges were found without CCTV cameras. In this regard, five FIRs No 192/24 U/S 223 BNS,193/24 U/S 223 BNS, 194/24 U/S 223 BNS 195/24 U/S 223 BNS and 196/24 U/S 223 BNS were registered at Police Station Katra, against the lodge owners for non-compliance of notification issued by District Magistrate Reasi,” she said.

The operation was led by SHO Katra.

District Magistrate Reasi in his order had directed the installation of CCTV cameras in all hotels, lodges, and medical shops.

SSP Reasi said that the Police were committed to protecting the property of citizens and further appealed to the owners of hotels, lodges, and medical shops in the district to make use of technology and install CCTV cameras in their premises to keep surveillance on criminal elements in the society.
