Fire incident near Hari Parbat

Srinagar, Jan 9: A fire incident was reported in forest area of Hari Parbat in Downtown today.

Officials said dry grass, bushes and trees caught fire, aided by highly flammable vegetation. Fire and emergency teams rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations. “The situation is under control and is being closely monitored to prevent further spread,” an official said. Fire officials said the cause of the fires was yet to be ascertained and an investigation was underway.

Amid rising fire incidents in Srinagar, officials urged people to strictly follow fire safety SOPs, especially during winter, when the increased use of heating devices significantly raises the risk of fires.
