Fire engulfs several residential houses in Srinagar’s Rajbagh locality; F&ES on job

Srinagar, July 20: Several residential houses were engulfed in a massive fire that broke out in Rajbagh area of Srinagar district on Sunday evening.

Reports said that fire started from one residential house and rapidly spread to nearby structures. Flames and thick smoke could be seen billowing from the area as panic gripped the locality.

An official from Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) department told JKNS that our team, assisted by locals, rushed to the spot and are making all efforts to douse the flames. Besides loud explosions of gas cylinders were also heard at the mishap site.

The operation was still underway when the last reports came in.

No reports of injury or loss of life have been confirmed so far. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be known, official said.
