Fire engulfs parts of forests on LoC in Mendhar

Poonch, Jan 6: Massive fire, which erupted across the Line of Control (LoC), Saturday engulfed parts of forest area at forward locations in Mendhar sub division of Poonch district.

Forest fire reportedly started in the area of PoJK facing the Line of Control and spread to this side.

“Fire broke out in an area of PoJK on the LoC during the intervening night of January 5 and 6 and spread to this side. Flames caused partial damage to forest and bushy areas on the Line of Control,” officials said.

“It was still raging. Flames had spread to the forest area of Balakote in Mendhar sub division,” they said.

“So far, however, there are no reports of any land mine explosion due to the fire incident in the area,” the officials added.
