Fire destroys two-storey residential house in Banihal village

Banihal, Apr 24: A massive fire broke out this afternoon in Kaskoot village of Banihal, completely gutting a residential house belonging to three brothers including Jahangir Ahmed Najjar, Adil Ahmed Najjar, and Shafqat Ahmed Najjar.

Locals said that the fire quickly engulfed the two storey structure consisting of 15 rooms, caused extensive damage. They added all belongings and household items were completely destroyed in the blaze.

An official from Fire & Emergency Department Banihal, Ayaz Ahmad Najjar said that two LPG cylinders inside the house exploded during the blaze. He said this intensified the fire and leaving nothing behind.

Officials said that the timely intervention by fire services, supported by Banihal police, army and locals helped to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby residential houses and a mosque.

No casualties have been reported in the fire incident.

Authorities are assessing the damages and the cause of the fire is being investigated, officials added.
