Fire breaks out in Sopore forests

Sopore, Jan 28: A massive fire broke out in the Kandi range Kehnusa block forest area of Rampora Rajpora forests in Kandi Sopore on Tuesday evening.

Teams of forest department have been deputed to douse off the flames. Reports said the fire  mysteriously erupted in compartment number 35 and damaged large number of trees.  There are apprehensions of the spreading to more areas which may cause huge damage to the green gold.Meanwhile, official from forest department also confirmed this fire incident and said that the fire has engulfed a large area of forest compartment  number 35.

“A large number of trees are feared to have suffered damage,” he said.

The official added  that soon after fire broke out in the compartment, the teams from Fire and Emergency department, Forest department including Forest Protection Force are on job to extinguish the fire, he said that the cause of the fire is probably due continuous drought.
