Fire breaks out in Sopore forest

Sopore, Jan 12: A fire was broke out in the Kandi range forest area of Rampora Rajpora in Baramulla district on Sunday evening.

Teams of forest department have been deputed to extinguish the fire. Reports said the fire mysteriously erupted in compartment number 35 at Rampora Rajpora forests in Kandi Sopore and damaged number of trees.

Meanwhile, an official from forest department also confirmed this fire incident and said that the fire has engulfed a large area of forest compartment 35. “A number of trees are feared to have suffered damage,” he said.

The official added that soon after fire broke out in the compartment, the teams from Fire and Emergency department, Forest department including Forest Protection Force are on the job to douse the flames. He added that they have somehow succeeded to control the fire.
