Ramban, Jan 7: The final two day statutory inspection of Commissioner Safety Railway (CSR) Northern Circle) on Katra -Reasi section of Udhampur- Srinagar- Baramulla Rail Link ( USBRL) Project began today.

Official sources said Commissioner Safety Railways, Dinesh Chand Deshwal and his team started their scheduled two days statutory inspection on newly constructed Katra ,Reasi ,Sangaldan section of USBRL Project.

Sources in Northern Railway said the Commissioner Safety Railways along with a team of officers and other officials from Northern Railways conducted inspection of newly constructed tracks, tunnel on Katra -Reasi section and visited India's first cable-stayed Anji Khad Bridge in Reasi.

Commissioner Safety Railway and his team Railway would inspect Arc Chenab Bridge, the world’s tallest Bridge, track on a special train to and fro on Katra , Reasi ,Sangaldan ,Banihal section tomorrow.

After conducting first day-long minute inspection on a tunnel and tracks on Katra-Reasi section CRS, Dinesh Chand Deshwal told reporters that inspection of tunnels and track between Katra and Reasi section is being conducted minutely.

He said earlier load test, train trail runs were conducted. He added that inspection is being conducted minutely. Deshwal expressed his satisfaction and said that the work here was best in the history of Indian Railways. The technology here used by Indian Railways is best in the world. He said all his team is engaged in conducting inspection

All the load tests conducted previously are being examined. He said a speed trail will be conducted. On Saturday a train trail run was conducted on the Katra Banihal section of the USBRL Project.

Engineers, experts of Indian Railways and officers and officials of USBRL project had conducted six train trials on this newly constructed Katra ,Reasi,Sangaldan ,Banihal section during the last three weeks. The Commissioner Safety Railway will submit its inspection report after completing two days of inspection on Friday to the central government for further action.

Earlier on Monday Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Jammu Railway Division . The work on this prestigious 272 Kms, long USBRL project was started in the year 1996 and it was finally completed.

It is pertinent to mention here that the first phase of the Baramulla -Qazigund 118, Kms, section of USBRL Project was completed in 2013. After that 18 kms Qazigund -Banihal section was completed and made operational in 2013.

Similarly Udhampur -Katra section was completed and was made operational in the year 2014. Banihal -Sangaldan 46.1Kms section was completed and was made operational in the year 2024. The work on Sangaldan -Katra 46 Kms section was completed in the mid of 2024 and is ready for operation as statutory inspection on this section was already conducted.

The work on the last and final 17 kms, section between Katra and Reasi was completed in December, 2024. Now the final CRS inspection on statutory inspection on this 17 kms, Katra ,Reasi section is underway.
