Srinagar, Mar 27: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has made regular academic inspections of schools mandatory for the officers of the department.

The initiative has been taken to streamline and improve the standards of teaching, academics, and administrative functioning of the institutions as well as offices.

“It has been felt that there is a need to reinvigorate academic inspections as well as field visits of offices and school by the officers of the department regularly with strict monitorable and measurable outcomes,” reads a circular issued by Director School Education Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Itoo.

The academic inspection of schools is aimed at monitoring and improving the standards of teaching besides functioning of the schools.

“It is enjoined upon the officers of the School Education Department, Kashmir Division, to conduct academic field visits in the following manner and submit Monthly Progress Reports (MPRs) by or before the 5th of every month,” the DSEK circular reads.

The circular instructions have been issued to monitor, streamline, and improve the standards of the learning-teaching process and administrative functioning of the schools.

As per the circular instructions, the Joint Directors of School Education Department, Kashmir, have been asked to conduct visits in different districts at least twice a week and submit a consolidated report along with their recommendations to Director School Education Kashmir.

“All Chief Education Officers and Deputy Chief Education Officers should conduct visits to different schools at least twice a week, preferably in far-flung areas of the district and submit a consolidated report to their respective Joint Directors," it reads.

Also, the cluster heads have been directed to conduct visits to different schools of their cluster along with the academic monitoring committee at least twice a week and submit a consolidated report to their respective Joint Directors.

“All Zonal Education Officers should conduct visits to different schools at least twice a week preferably in far-flung areas of their zones and submit a consolidated report to the respective CEOs,” the circular reads.

The DSEK has made it clear that in case of any departmental meeting during the scheduled visit, the inspection of the schools should not be cancelled unless conveyed by the directorate.

“Efforts can be made to attend the said meeting online,” the DSEK circular reads.

The DSEK has directed officers to comply with the instructions in letter and spirit.

“Any deviation on this account will be taken seriously,” the DSEK warned.

As per the circular instructions, the Joint Directors have been asked to compile all reports and recommendations of a month and submit them for the perusal of the Director School Education Kashmir by or before 7th of every month.
