Srinagar, June 12: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), J&K State Council, held a high-level stakeholders’ interaction at The LaLit, Srinagar, in the run-up to the upcoming Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Conclave and the 5th Edition of the FICCI Golf Tournament, scheduled for June 27–28 in Srinagar.

The session brought together key figures from the tourism and hospitality industry, including Dr. Jyotsna Suri, CMD, Lalit Hospitality Group; Mushtaq Ahmed Burza, Chairman, FICCI J&K State Council; Mushtaq Chaya, Chairman, J&K Hotelier Club; Nasir Shah, Chairman, Kashmir Tourism Alliance; Rouf Trumboo, Chairman, TAAK; and Peerzada Fayaz, Convener Kashmir, RTSOI, alongside other prominent members of the region’s tourism fraternity.

Opening the interaction, Dr. Suri welcomed the participants, followed by a special address by Burza, who reaffirmed FICCI’s commitment to positioning Jammu & Kashmir as a sustainable, premium, and experiential tourism destination through strategic collaboration and impactful initiatives.

Discussions spotlighted adventure tourism opportunities—such as cycling, motorbiking, paragliding, and water sports—along with the integration of sustainable tourism practices. Stakeholders underlined the importance of involving social media influencers, national travel writers, and vloggers to promote Kashmir’s diverse tourism experiences. There was also broad consensus on marking International Yoga Day with a dedicated session hosted at The LaLit.

Participants urged FICCI to liaise with government authorities to ensure a tourist-friendly Amarnath Yatra, avoid excessive restrictions on tourist vehicles, and invite Union Ministers of Tourism and Railways to the conclave. The proposal to organise a Kashmiri food festival under FICCI’s banner also garnered widespread support. Concerns over inadequate sanitation infrastructure at Srinagar Airport were also raised.

All attendees pledged full support to FICCI for the successful execution of the Tourism Conclave and Golf Tournament, offering help across outreach, logistics, participation, and promotion. Their collective enthusiasm reflected a shared goal of reviving Jammu & Kashmir as a secure, dynamic, and globally recognised tourism destination.
