FICCI FLO strengthens India-Bhutan ties through women-led sustainability initiatives
Jammu, Nov 1: Under the leadership of Poonam Sharma, 42nd National President of FICCI FLO—the women’s wing of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry—a Sustainable Study Delegation visited Bhutan to reinforce collaboration in sustainability, women’s entrepreneurship, and regional growth.
The 34-member delegation, led by Puja Garg, National Senior Vice President, and curated by Smriti Puri, National Treasurer, engaged with Bhutanese leaders, institutions, and entrepreneurs to learn from the country’s renowned model of Sustainable Development, Controlled Tourism, and Gross National Happiness (GNH), said a press release.
Prominent members included Past Presidents Dr. Harjinder Kaur Talwar and Ujjwala Singhania, National Joint Treasurer Suguna Ravichandran, and Chapter Chairs Mona Singh and Pratibha Kunda. Governing Body Members Kuwarani Ritu Singh, Ambar Paridhi Sahai, Minal Jain, Namrata Mishra, Ritika Sarna, Ruby Garg, and Sunita Kanoria also participated, representing FLO’s diverse leadership and shared commitment to sustainable progress.
A key highlight was a special audience with His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, King of Bhutan, who shared his vision for the Gelephu Mindfulness City, integrating mindfulness, innovation, and sustainability. “His Majesty’s vision for mindful living and sustainable progress truly inspired us. It aligns beautifully with FLO’s belief that women are the architects of a sustainable and equitable future,” said Poonam Sharma.
