Srinagar, Jan 14: The Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC), Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a stern warning to schools against charging fees over and above the rates fixed by the committee, cautioning that strict action will be taken against violators.

In an official notice issued on Wednesday, the FFRC said it has received complaints that certain schools are charging fees in excess of the amounts approved by the committee. The committee termed the practice as a serious malpractice and said it would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The notice stated that any school found charging even a single rupee more than the prescribed fee structure will face strict enforcement action. This includes the imposition of a penalty amounting to 10 percent of the total revenue of the school and a recommendation for de-recognition.

The committee further directed that any school which has already charged fees beyond the approved limit must refund the excess amount to students immediately.

FFRC warned all schools to strictly comply with the fee structure orders issued by the committee and desist from engaging in practices that burden parents and guardians financially.

The notice has been issued under the authority of the FFRC Chairperson, Justice Sunil Hali, who reiterated that enforcement action will follow in cases of non-compliance. [KNT]
