Jammu, Oct 23: Jammu Railway Division of the Northern Railway, in wake of the increased passenger traffic during the festive season, has deployed additional staff for crowd management at its major stations, including Jammu, Katra and Srinagar.

“Our goal is to ensure that no passenger faces any inconvenience during the festive season. Through measures such as digital ticketing, affordable food counters and the deployment of additional support personnel, the Railways is providing passengers with a safe, quick, and seamless travel experience,” Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Jammu Railway Division, Uchit Singhal, stated.

He said that in view of the increased passenger traffic during the festivals, Jammu (Railway) Division was taking several effective steps to prioritize passenger convenience and safety.

“Special guidelines have been issued to ensure safe, orderly and smooth operations at stations and trains. These are being strictly followed by railway employees. These arrangements aim to strengthen crowd control, passenger safety, station amenities and public awareness,” he said.

“Additional staff have been deployed for crowd management in passenger trains at all major stations in the division, including Jammu, such as Pathankot Cantt, Pathankot City, Katra, Srinagar, etc., and continuous monitoring by joint teams of the RPF and commercial department has been ensured for traffic control,” Singhal said.

According to him, for better crowd management, additional staff have been deployed on platforms, foot overbridges (FOBs) and trains at major stations to control crowds and ensure orderly boarding.

“Passengers are being informed through public announcement systems and signage. They are being directed to board in queues; being explained the importance of safe boarding and are being advised to allow passengers to disembark first before boarding the train. They should not attempt to board or disembark while the train is moving. Passengers are also being made aware of the importance of taking care of their luggage so that they can enjoy a safe journey,” Senior DCM Jammu Railway Division stated, while explaining the measures being taken.

He said that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police were managing crowds to ensure that passengers could board coaches easily and avoid overcrowding.

“Adequate lighting, drinking water and sanitation facilities have been provided at all major stations, along with first-aid booths and medical teams. Promoting digital means for easy and accessible ticketing, mobile ticketing services like M-UTS and RailOne App are being increasingly encouraged. Through these services, passengers are obtaining platform tickets and unreserved tickets without queuing,” Singhal said.
