I hope you are well. It was heartening to know that June 15th is commemorated as UN World Elder Abuse Awareness Day each year. Your article, Elder Abuse: “A Haunting Reality in Kashmir,” was very interesting and quite enlightening, as I believe most senior citizens are unaware of this particular abuse. Although I am a regular reader of GK, especially your articles in Senior Citizens Lounge, I only learned about it when I saw your article in the June 16th edition of GK, which I read on June 17th, the day of Eid ul Adha. You have excellently elaborated on the various abuses that senior citizens face, but the responsibility to address these issues ultimately lies with the youth, who may have missed the article.

To ensure broader awareness and reach, I suggest involving Imams and Khatibs on such occasions. Their Friday sermons could effectively disseminate important advice to the community. Regarding an initiative of Moul Mouj Health Centre—a special clinic for elders providing multi-dimensional medical facilities under one roof—I commend this initiative. It will undoubtedly reduce the hassle of frequent visits to various clinics for both patients and their families.

To streamline communication, could you kindly publish details on the clinic’s timings, mode of appointment, consultation fees, and medication costs? Additionally, information on coverage through medical insurance schemes or similar programs would be beneficial. This is crucial to prevent senior citizens from becoming a financial burden on their families, especially considering the already challenging economic situation in Kashmir.

We received many queries regarding the timings of Moul Mouj Health Centre. By the will of Almighty Allah, the need for this initiative has been acknowledged by everyone. All of my colleagues and friends in the medical and diagnostic fraternity are joining this effort. We are in the process of issuing Moul Mouj Privilege Cards, which will allow seniors to access comprehensive healthcare facilities, including medicines and diagnostics at various diagnostic facilities in srinagar at very affordable prices. Additional developments are underway, and we will keep our readers updated. For now, I have started home visits and I will hold my OPD at Moul Mouj Health Centre, Kashmir Clinics Central, opposite the petrol pump at Karan Nagar Chowk, Srinagar. You can call 7006913684 for further queries. There is increasing demand to expand this initiative to South and North Kashmir, and In Shaa Allah, those areas will also be catered to soon.
