FCIK mourns loss of veteran entrepreneur GQ Kawoosa

Srinagar, Aug 29: The Federation of Chambers of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) has deeply mourned the passing of Ghulam Qadir Kawoosa, a distinguished businessman and visionary who made a profound impact on Kashmir’s economic and cultural landscape.

Kawoosa, a pioneering figure in the region’s entrepreneurial scene, passed away late Wednesday night.

In a statement, FCIK acknowledged Kawoosa as a trailblazer among the first generation of entrepreneurs in Kashmir following 1947 with a record of success in all that he touched.

“His significant contributions are remembered with deep respect and admiration. Kawoosa was instrumental in advancing Kashmiri handicrafts, bringing the region’s rich artisanal traditions to the global stage.

His relentless efforts to promote and elevate Kashmiri craftsmanship, coupled with his involvement in diverse manufacturing and service sector ventures, were pivotal in enhancing the region’s economic stature” said FCIK President Shahid Kamili.

In addition to his business acumen, Kawoosa’s visionary approach extended to education. He established one of the city’s most esteemed schools, which has become a cornerstone of high-quality education in the region. His dedication to improving educational standards and opportunities has left a lasting legacy on the community.

The Advisory Committee including Shakeel Qalander, M.D Qureshi, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat and Mohammad Ashraf Mir has extended its deepest sympathies to Kawoosa’s family and associates during this period of profound grief.

They said that enduring legacy of entrepreneurial spirit, cultural promotion, and educational enhancement by the deceased would be cherished and remembered by all who are touched by his work and vision besides that his mark of success would inspire budding generation of entrepreneurs. Prayers were also offered at FCIK for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
