Fayaz Kaloo bereaved
Srinagar, Jan 17: Manzoor Ahmad Baba resident of Nallabal Nowshehra, passed away due to cardiac arrest on Friday. He was the nephew of Fayaz Kaloo, Editor-in-Chief of Greater Kashmir.
A pall of gloom descended Nallabal after the sudden demise of Manzoor Baba. Hundreds of people from different walks of life participated in his Nimaz-e-Jinaza. He was laid to rest at Nowshehra graveyard. He is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters.
According to the bereaved family, there will be no Rasme- Chahrum. Tazyat will be only for three days. On Sunday, January 19, Fateha Khawani will be held at Nallabal Nowshehra graveyard at 11 am.
Manzoor was also the nephew of Ghulam Hassan Kaloo, Editor The Mirror of Kashmir and Dr Farooq Ahmad Kaloo. He was the cousin of Mir Aijaz Ahmad, Editor Kashmir Canvas.
The demise has been widely condoled. In her condolence message, former Chief Minister and president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti expressed grief on the demise.
“Party President Mehbooba Mufti expressed profound grief over the sudden demise of Manzoor Ahmad Baba, nephew of Fayaz Kaloo Sahib (Greater Kashmir). She has expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, especially his mother, wife, and daughters. In this moment of immense grief, Mufti prayed for the departed soul to be granted Jannat-ul-Firdous and for strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss,” PDP spokesperson said in a statement.
President of J&K Apni Party and former minister, Syed Altaf Bukhari also expressed condolences with Fayaz Kaloo. “Deepest condolences to Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo, editor Greater Kashmir, and the other members of the bereaved family on the passing of his beloved nephew, Manzoor Ahmad Baba, who passed away today due to a heart attack. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un,” Bukhari said.
“May Almighty Allah bless the departed soul with the highest place in Jannah. In this hour of grief, I stand in solidarity with the grieving family. May Allah grant them the strength to endure this sudden and profound loss,” Bukhari added.
Chairman of Peoples Conference Sajad Lone also condoled the demise. “My heartfelt condolences to Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo, editor Greater Kashmir, whose nephew Manzoor A Baba passed away. May Allah grant him Jannat,” Sajad posted on X.
Senior National Conference leader and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq also condoled the demise. “Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Manzoor Ahmad Baba. My heartfelt condolences to his grieving family, including his wife, children, and relatives, especially Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo Sahab. May Allah grant the departed soul eternal peace and give strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss,” Sadiq posted on X.
Meanwhile, the leaders of PDP also extended heartfelt condolences to Fayaz Kaloo on the tragic loss of his nephew
Recognising the deep bond between families, the PDP leadership acknowledged the grief of losing such a close family member and expressed solidarity with Fayaz Kaloo in this painful time. “Fayaz Kaloo Sahib has always been a voice of resilience and integrity through his work in journalism, and we stand with him as he mourns this personal loss. Losing a nephew so suddenly is heartbreaking, and we pray for strength and patience for him and his family,” said senior PDP leader Mohammad Sartaj Madni.
Senior PDP leaders Abdul Rehman Veeri, Abdul Haq Khan, Dr Mehboob Beg, Khursheed Alam, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Abdul Haq Khan, Nayeem Akhter, Basharat Bukhari, Waheed Para, Fayaz Mir, Ali Mohd Naik, Aasiya Naqash, Anjum Fazili, Firdous Tak, Qayoom Bhat, Yaseen Bhat, Mohit Bhan, Arif Laigroo, Hameed Kohsheen, Iqbal Tramboo Zuhaib Mir, Dr Ali Mohd, Bashir Beigh, Mohd Altaf Tramboo, Ghulam Qadir Shawl and others, also conveyed their condolences and expressed solidarity with both grieving families.
The PDP leadership prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the family to bear this irreparable loss.
