Farooq Ahmad Ganai elected JKCEGA President

Srinagar, Mar 9: Farooq Ahmad Ganai, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), has been elected President of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Engineering Graduates Association (JKCEGA) for a fresh three-year term.

A statement of JKCEGA issued here said that the election, held on March 9, 2025, at the JKCEGA head office within the Engineering Complex, Rajbagh, Srinagar, witnessed robust participation from the association's members.

The electoral process, meticulously overseen by the election commission in the presence of observers from the Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) and retired Chief Engineers, was conducted through a hybrid model, combining both online and offline voting.

This ensured accessibility and convenience for all members.

Ganai emerged victorious, securing a significant majority of 412 votes, while his opponent, Fayaz Ahmad Yatoo garnered 176 votes.

The resounding victory signifies the strong confidence and support Ganai enjoys among his peers.

Adding to the smooth conduct of the election, Irfan Ahmad Reshi was elected unopposed as the General Secretary of the JKCEGA, further solidifying the new leadership team.

This election marks a return to leadership for Ganai, who previously served as the JKCEGA President from 2017 to 2021.

His prior tenure is remembered for its impactful initiatives and dedication to the welfare of the civil engineering community in J&K.

The smooth transition of power was facilitated by the presence of the outgoing President, Nasir Amin, and General Secretary, Mudasir Mushtaq Untoo, who ensured a seamless handover and extended their best wishes to the newly elected leadership.

The JKCEGA, an organisation representing civil engineering graduates in the region, is poised to embark on a new chapter under the leadership of Ganai and Reshi.

The association aims to continue its mission of advocating for the professional development and welfare of its members while contributing to the infrastructure development of Jammu and Kashmir.

The results were met with celebrations from the winning party supporters, who expressed their optimism for the future of the JKCEGA.
