Farooq Abdullah visits Shalimar Carpets in Jammu

Jammu, Mar 11: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah visited Shalimar Carpets at Bari Brahmana, Jammu today to promote local industries and understand the challenges faced by industrial unit holders in the region.

During his visit, Dr Abdullah examined the carpet manufacturer’s products firsthand and engaged with local business owners to discuss their grievances regarding the industrial policy framework in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Shalimar Carpets owner Rakesh Bhat said, “Dr Farooq visited our showroom to experience our products and listened attentively to the issues faced by industrial unit holders.”

Bhat highlighted a key concern regarding policy disparities: “We raised issues about the discrepancies unit holders are facing, particularly as new unit holders under the new industrial policy are eligible for a slew of benefits while old unit holders are not.”

According to Bhat, Dr Abdullah assured the business owners that he would take up their concerns with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s government and work towards addressing their grievances.
