Farmers’ capacity building training held at DARS, SKUAST-K under HADP
Srinagar, Aug 13: The Dryland Agriculture Research Station (DARS), SKUAST-Kashmir, Rangreth, in collaboration with the Holistic Agriculture Development Project (HADP) on Rainfed Area Development, on Wednesday organised a capacity building programme for farmers on “Waste to Wealth: Conversion of Organic Waste into Bio-fertilisers for Enhancing Soil Health.”
Around 50 progressive farmers from Budgam district participated in the programme, which included both theoretical sessions and hands-on training. Participants were briefed on techniques, legal aspects, and marketing of organic produce.
In her opening remarks, Training Organiser Dr. Seerat-un-Nissa outlined the objectives and potential benefits of the programme. Associate Director Research, Dr. M. Ashraf Bhat, highlighted various initiatives at DARS under rainfed ecologies and urged farmers to adopt SKUAST-K technologies to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Faculty members delivered lectures on waste-to-wealth conversion, followed by an interactive session addressing farmers’ queries. The programme concluded with a field visit to experimental and demonstration plots.
