Farmers affected by Srinagar Ring Road approach CM’s grievance redressal office
Srinagar, Nov 25: As Govt is planning to set up new satellite townships around the Srinagar Ring Road project between Pampore to Narbal, the aggrieved farmers and activists on Monday met with Chief Ministers Political Advisor who is also the incharge of Chief Ministers grievance redressal and outreach office also known as “Raabta.”
The delegation led by Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat, Ghulam Ahmad Paul, Ali Mohammad Wani, Muzaffar Hussain and others apprised CM’s Political Advisor that further land acquisition around under construction Srinagar Ring Road will not only impact the farming families, their livelihood but will also have severe impact on environment and ecology as well.
“Our agricultural land was acquired by NHAI for construction of the Srinagar Semi Ring Road Project from Pampore Galandar to Narbal some years back. That we were not paid adequate compensation for the same as we are yet to recover from that shock another notification has been issued by Div Comm office in 2022 and latest one by J&K Housing Board for setting up of some satellite colonies, townships around Ring Road especially in Pampore, Chadoora and Budgam tehsils in Budgam. We have lost large parcels of our agricultural land for the Srinagar Ring Road project and rivers, streams and karewas have also been plundered by the construction company. Now our leftover land will be taken away by JK Housing Board and this will make us landless. This is unacceptable to us as Kashmir valley has the lowest agriculture land holding in India which is less than 4 kanals as of now” reads the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister through Raabta office.
The farmers have requested that notification issued by Div Comm office in 2022 and latest one by J&K Housing Board video order No: HB/CLA/130-38 Dated 9.10.2024 be cancelled.
