Fall of Assad
While the whole world was stunned as to how the 24 years of Assad regime ended in Syria, the Syrian opposition militia sweept the city after city until they entered Damascus and President Assad fled to some unknown destination. A sect of people say that Israel is at their back while others analyse that Turkey was the precipitating factor. Some people say Ankara and Tel Aviv have jointly hatched this conspiracy.
But the fact is that there has been a massacre in Syrian cities killing one million people including pregnant women, old persons and children by Iranian and Russian bombings eleven years back, that led to exodus of millions of Syrians to border areas and Turkey. There is no denying the fact that Turkey's military support to rebels has played a pivotal role, particularly the Turkish drones which have played havoc with Assad's army in Allepo.
Turkish drones are feared by even Putin who has experienced the havoc that these Turkish drones made with his army in Ukraine last year when Turkey for a short while fought along NATO against Russia. But then ceasefire took place between them. Understandably Tehran had shown her serious concern against a renewed attack against Alawite regime in Syria and some believe that she had managed to send troops from Iraq and Hezbollah militia from Lebanon but the news proved wrong when Tehran herself made an open statement that fall of Assad will ensure fall of Israel.
It is widely believed that a meeting had been convened between Tehran, Moscow and Ankara in Russia, just before where the three nations are believed to have reached upon a consensus on Syria. An understanding, perhaps, had been reached between Tehran and the Syrian rebels before they took Damascus.
Iran is presently engaged with Israel and Russia is engaged in Ukraine both of these issues are highly prioritized by both the countries. This factor helped Turkey based Syrian militia to sweep through Allepo and Damascus. Turkish leader Erdogan had admitted that Turkey helped rebels indirectly through logistic support and that Tehran desisted to open a new front in Syria lest Turkey might be instigated and send its troops in Syria. Should that happen, it would have been another catastrophe and misfortune in the region where Gaza is yet to recover from the war trauma. The Tehreer AlSham have not been involved in killing of pro Assad people and have avoided any plunder and loot.
Majority of Syrian people are seen rejoicing and celebrating the fall of a Dictator. Soon the people of Syria living in exile would return to their homeland. Turkey has stood as a guarantor of their security. Tehran is silent on Syrian present position that has been disseminating the message that she has agreed to be with the people of Syria. Tehran remaining off the battle in protecting Asad this time must have frustrated the designs of Biden administration and Tel Aviv that bloodshed in Syria this time has not taken place although new president to take oath in January Donald Trump has tweeted that US was to to be a pacifist.
He said that US had no interests in Syria. A big question surfaces in the minds of several people that will the new Syria of Tehreer AlSham see the dawn of democracy and would it pave way to connect Tehran with Hezbollah in Lebanon and would Syria turn to be anti-Israel as Tehran must be watching as the dust settles in Syria; only future would decide. During Asad’s time anti-Israel protests were totally banned in Syria.
