Fair price shop dealer arrested in Kulgam for accepting bribe

Srinagar, July 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended Ajaz Ahmad Malik, a fair price shop dealer from Pati Bongam Kulgam, on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4000.

The ACB had received a complaint against Ajaz Ahmad Malik of Khuri Batpora Kulgam, for demanding the bribe for release of ration and for the KYC.

In his complaint, it was alleged that the dealer of the fair price shop was denying and depriving the complainant of the monthly ration on the pretext of submitting KYC. The complainant had many times approached the fair price shop, but he used dilly dallying tactics and demanded Rs 7500 as bribe.

The complainant arranged Rs 4000 and approached ACB for taking necessary action against the dealer.

On receipt of the complaint, a case FIR No 3/2024 u/s 7 of P/C Act was registered at ACB Police Station Anantnag and investigation was taken up. During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted by the  Bureau, which laid a successful trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 4000 from the complainant.

The bribe amount was also recovered from his possession in the presence of the independent witnesses. Further investigation into the case is going on.
