Srinagar, Oct 16: A week-long Faculty Development Program commenced today at Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College, Bemina.

Dr Rashmi Singh, Commissioner Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department J&K was the chief guest of the function. Prof (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai, Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University Srinagar was the guest of honour while as Prof (Dr) Seema Naz, Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges was the special guest. Principals of adjacent colleges of the city also attended the function.

Dr Rashmi Singh delivered the keynote address. She emphasised on the need to make positive interventions in the teaching-learning continuum to make it perfect and complete. She further added that ‘data are compulsory for an empirical study or a policy decision but their analysis should be undertaken ethically”. Prof (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai delivered the special address on the occasion. She foregrounded that apart from competence, teacher effectiveness and proficiency in respective subjects is a must and recourses to that effect must be undertaken. NCC cadets piloted the chief guest and other dignitaries to the venue and presented the guard of honour.

The Faculty Development Program is being organised by the departments of Statistics, Mathematics and Economics.

Scores of participants from different colleges of J&K have registered for the event. A gamut of reputed resource persons from different universities are slated to speak in different sessions of the FDP. The proceedings of the inaugural function were conducted by Dr. Tanveer Ahmad, Media Secretary of the college.
