Facilitate upcoming Urs observance: Dr Farooq Abdullah to admin

Srinagar, Apr 16: National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah Wednesday called upon the Srinagar district administration to facilitate the upcoming Urs observance of Hazrat Dawood Reshi (Batmaloo sahib RA) and Hazrat Fakir-e-Millat Mirak Shah Kashani Sahib (RA) at their revered Shrines in Batamaloo and Shalimar.

In a statement Dr Farooq emphasised the need for the administration, concerned shrine management, and Wakf authorities to work together to ensure a smooth Urs observance. “With an expected increase in footfall of devotees at the shrines, it is crucial for all departments involved to collaborate effectively,” he said.

NC President urged the district and divisional administration to issue directives to all line departments, including SMC, PDD, and PWD, to enhance their services and provide a memorable experience for devotees during the Urs days. Additionally, he called for the availability of extra public transport on all routes leading to these shrines during the Urs observance.

“It is imperative that all stakeholders come together to ensure the success of this sacred event and provide a seamless experience for all devotees,” he said.
