Extend summer vacation: Arif Laigaroo
Srinagar, Jul 4: PDP leader Arif Laigaroo has appealed to the Minister for Education, Sakina Itoo, to urgently extend the summer vacation for school children in light of the ongoing and intense heatwave across the Kashmir Valley.
In a statement, he expressed serious concern over the health risks being posed to children due to the prevailing weather conditions. “With the mercury soaring and no sign of relief, it is extremely difficult—especially for younger children—to attend school safely. The harsh heat is causing immense discomfort and may lead to dehydration, fatigue, and even heatstroke in some cases,” Laigaroo said.
He emphasised that the safety and well-being of students must be the top priority of the administration. “I urge the Hon’ble Education Minister Sakina Itoo to take immediate action and announce an extension in the summer break to safeguard our children from further health risks,” PDP leader added.
Laigaroo hoped the administration would take a humane and student-friendly decision without delay.
