Srinagar, Nov 05: The Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club on Tuesday said that fresh surge in militant activities in J&K needs to be investigated, and urged authorities to expose the elements deteriorating the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu & Kashmir.

Addressing media persons here in Srinagar, the prominent hotelier Mushtaq Chaya as per Greater Kashmir expressed serious concern over surge in militant activities in Jammu & Kashmir. “When last couple of years was peaceful, why militant activities have witnessed a rise in J&K in last few days,” Chaya questioned.

“Such incidents should be probed. If there was normalcy in past few years, why violent activities has returned back to J&K,” he said.

He condemned recent grenade attack at crowded Sunday market at TRC Srinagar, saying “It is not acceptable to people of Jammu & Kashmir”.

He said J&K is witnessing such violent activities from last 30-years, but fortunately last 1-2 years passed off peacefully. “Those perpetrating such acts shouldn’t resort to violence,” he said.

Chaya added there are lacs of people associated with tourism industry, so it gets affected badly due to such activities. “We want peace in Jammu & Kashmir,” he held.

Speaking at the occasion, another businessman Manzoor Wangnoo urged authorities to find out root cause of such attacks. “There is a need to find out root cause of such attacks. We have issues of unemployment, and drug abuse among youth which need to be addressed. So we should keep concentration on addressing these vital issues,” he said.

“Elements behind such attacks need to be exposed. We are with the government to restore peace and normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir,” another hotelier said, and requested security agencies to curb elements inimical to peace.

Earlier a meeting of J&K Hoteliers Club and Tour & Travel Operators held in Srinagar over recent increase in militant activities in J&K. The meeting was attended by Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Transport, Science & Technology Information Technology Youth Services & Sports ARI & Training Satish Sharma also.
