‘Expedite completion of new Orthopaedic Unit at B&J Hospital’
Srinagar, July 25: Secretary Planning, Monitoring & Development, Aijaz Asad, who is also holding charge of Chief Executive Officer Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), chaired a review meeting to expedite the procurement of medical equipments for the upcoming 120-bedded specialized orthopedic unit, including a six-bedded ICU.
The new unit is a crucial component of the Jhelum-Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP) funded by the World Bank. The project aims to enhance healthcare infrastructure and services in the region. He directed to expedite completion of new Orthopaedic Unit at B&J Hospital’
The meeting was attended by Principal & Dean of Government Medical College Srinagar, Prof Dr. Iffat Hassan; Medical Superintendent of B&J Hospital Srinagar, Dr. Shabir Siddiqui; Professor & Head of Orthopaedics B&J Hospital Srinagar, Dr. Altaf Ahmad; Medical Consultant from the World Bank, Dr. Chandrasekhar; Project Manager ERA; Director (T); and representatives from NPCC Ltd., among others.
Addressing the participants, he said that the Jammu and Kashmir government is making significant strides in establishing a state-of-the-art orthopaedic facility at the Bone & Joint Hospital in Srinagar. Discussions focused on addressing issues related to the procurement of medical equipment essential for the new specialized orthopaedic unit and ICU.
To ensure the highest quality of medical care, Aijaz Asad directed officials to meticulously review equipment specifications in coordination with the Government Medical College Srinagar.
