The dates for Secondary and Senior Secondary exams in Kashmir divisions have been declared already, centres also allotted in case of 10th, and students are all busy to prepare for these exams. While teachers, parents and students have their own way to engage with the hight volt, pressure situation, the administration has to do it own bit. The number of students is very high and managing all things, from roll number slips to marks cards is not a simple job. But it can be made simple, and efficient. That is the whole point.

The process for conducting examinations starts with getting the data from schools related to individual students. With digital revolution this should become easy and speedy. What also can, and should be done is the tracking of this data. Its compilation and organisation in the JKBOSE offices should not be like a war strategy that none should know. In fact, students should be given access to this data so that they can see it for themselves if the details are correct. The information is all about a student and it is the prerogative of a student to know it before it settles in the records of the respective offices.

When the data is finally compiled and exam centres are assigned, there should be a scientific way of doing it. The algorithms can now help in this. The students of a particular school should get their centres nearer to their schools, so that they are no put to needless hassle.

The roll number slips should reach individual students well in time. Last exam session there were some students who had to face a very painful situation. Such incidents should not recur. If roll number slips are sent well in time, schools and students should have enough time to fix any problems in case they arose. Lastly, no students should suffer on account of the mistakes committed in schools or JKBOSE offices. That must be ensured.
