Ex PM Deve Gowda takes train from Srinagar to Baramulla, reviews several projects there

After inspecting the railway line, Gowda, who was seen seated in a wheelchair, continued his journey to Uri by vehicle.

Baramulla, Aug 29: The former Prime Minister of India, H.D. Deve Gowda today visited Kashmir to review several key infrastructure projects sanctioned during his tenure, including the Srinagar-Baramulla railway line.

Gowda took the train at Nowgam, Srinagar at 11:30 a.m to reach Baramulla.

"It was during my tenure that I sanctioned the Srinagar-Baramulla railway project," Gowda told reporters in Baramulla.

The railway line from Srinagar to Baramulla, he said, was sanctioned by him at a cost of Rs 2400 crores. The project he said was declared a national project.

"I wanted to see how the railway track has been laid and how passenger facilities have been provided," he said.

After inspecting the railway line, Gowda, who was seen seated in a wheelchair, continued his journey to Uri by vehicle. In Uri, he reviewed the power projects he had sanctioned during his term in office.
