Ex-officials of DD Kashir observe Elders' Day

Srinagar, June 25: Retirees including officers of DD Kashir from Srinagar, Jammu, and Leh convened at the Botanical Garden in Srinagar to commemorate Elders' Day. The gathering focused on discussing various pension-related issues affecting them.

Among the distinguished attendees were Shabbir Mujahid, former head of DD Leh; Naseem Khan, former head of DD Jammu; Shehzadi Simon and Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, former heads of DD Srinagar. The occasion also paid tribute to colleagues and officials who passed away in the last year, including Faruq Nazki, Zeeshan Fazil, Javed Qureshi, Ashraf Mir, Abdul Gani, Zahid Manzur, and others.

Addressing the assembly, former ADG Dr Rafeeq Masoodi highlighted recent developments concerning the 8th Pay Commission, the reduction of commutation period to 10 years, and the introduction of cashless facilities in various UT hospitals by the Government of India.

The day was an opportunity for elders to step away from their daily routines at home, with hospitality provided by G Mohidin Bhat, Bashir Mir, Ismail Kumar, and Bashir Dar. Plans were made to reconvene in September at Vintage Park, Bandipora.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shehzadi Simon, expressing gratitude to all participants for their presence and contributions.
