Ex-Delhi Congress chief joins BJP
New Delhi, May 4: Former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, who recently resigned from his post in protest against the Congress's alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), officially joined the BJP on Saturday.
Alongside him, former city government minister Raj Kumar Chauhan and ex-MLAs Neeraj Basoya and Naseeb Singh also made the switch to the BJP. At the event, held in New Delhi and attended by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, the former Congress leaders criticised the alliance between their former party and AAP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
They expressed gratitude to the BJP leadership, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for welcoming them into the fold during what they described as a time of uncertainty. Lovely's return to the BJP marks his second stint with the party, having briefly rejoined the Congress in 2018 after initially leaving the BJP. Puri commended the newcomers and affirmed that the BJP would make effective use of their talents and experiences.
