Srinagar, Sep 27: The banned Jama’at-e-Islami J&K panel spokesperson Shameem Ahmad Thoker said that every panel member has been given an assignment on which they are working upon, and added there is no confusion among the leadership over ongoing electoral process.

“There is no confusion in the leadership on ongoing electoral process. Everyone has been given an assignment. They are doing their work on their own way,” Thoker told media persons on the sidelines of a public meeting in north Kashmir’s Baramulla.

He said an atmosphere of fear is deliberately being created to keep cadre of Jama’at away from electoral process which he strongly condemned.

“There is an atmosphere of fear, but in north Kashmir its intensity is very high. There are many among us who wish to participate but a notion is being spread that once ballot boxes will get open the electorates who voted in favour of Jama’at backed independent candidates will be called by agencies and will be dealt sternly. This idea which is being spread is highly condemnable,” he said.

He appealed cadre of banned Jama’at-e-Islami to come forward and take part in electoral process without any fear.

Responding to a query, he said the panel wants to address all issues of people including Kashmir. “Besides Kashmir, we want all issues pertaining to day-to-day life of common people should be addressed and resolved. And there is no way other than dialogue. We want every stakeholder to come to the table and resolve issues amicably,” he added.

“We are fighting elections both for our people and to ensure the ban is lifted over Jama’at,” he said.
