EPCH elects 6 new members to Committee of Administration

New Delhi, Dec 10: The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts successfully concluded its 38th Annual General Meeting, electing six new members to its Committee of Administration from different regions of India.

A statement said that chaired by Dileep Baid, the meeting brought together leading exporters and industry professionals to discuss the council’s activities and future strategies. The election filled vacancies across Northern, North-East, Southern, and North-West regions.

The newly elected members represent diverse geographical areas and bring extensive experience to the council. From the Northern Region, Ravi K. Passi, Prince Malik, and Arshad Hussain Mir were selected. Jesmina Zeliang represents the North-East, K. N. Tulasi Rao the Southern Region, and Dileep Baid the North-West Region.

A notable highlight is Arshad Hussain Mir from Srinagar, a prominent exporter with 25 years of experience and current Chairman of the Handicraft and Carpets Sector Skill Council.

Baid emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to support the handicrafts sector. The council reported impressive export figures for 2023-24, with handicrafts exports reaching Rs. 32,759 Crores (US $ 3,956 Million), representing a growth of 9.13% in rupee terms and 6.11% in dollar terms.

The EPCH continues to play a crucial role in promoting Indian handicrafts globally, showcasing the exceptional skills of artisans across various craft clusters.
