Ensure smooth, peaceful conduct of poll process: IGP Kashmir
Srinagar, Sep 10: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi Tuesday called upon the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of the election process.
Conducting a security and election review meeting at Range Police Headquarters Anantnag in preparation for the upcoming assembly polls, the IGP Kashmir emphasised the need for close coordination with all the security agencies and directed that proactive measures should be taken to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
He also directed the officers to maintain close vigil on anti-national elements and ensure the safe and secure movement of security forces on the national highways.
Birdi also visited various camping locations of incoming CAPF Companies in district Anantnag and took stock of the arrangements on-ground.
He passed on-spot directions with respect to providing adequate facilities for the officers and paramilitary soldiers.
The meeting was attended by DIG South Kashmir Range Anantnag, Javid Iqbal Matoo, Commander Ist Sector, DIG CRPF Awantipora and Anantnag, DIG BSF, DIG ITBP, and all SSPs of South Kashmir Range and other senior officers.
The meeting aimed to review the overall security arrangements put in place in the South Kashmir Range for the upcoming phase-I polls.
Earlier, DIG SKR Anantnag gave a detailed outline of the security arrangements, camping locations for CAPF Coys, location of polling booths and strong rooms and the security measures undertaken in the districts of south Kashmir.
The induction of CAPF Companies and the logistic arrangements made for CAPF Companies were also reviewed.
Special focus was laid on route plans for induction and de-induction of poll parties, security of polling booths, and strong rooms.
The visit concluded with a comprehensive review of the overall security grid, strategies, and action plans devised to ensure the peaceful conduct of elections.
