“LCMA must ensure to take stakeholders besides local environmentalists and concerned citizens on board while preparing DPR for the twin lakes.  The lakes need scientific interventions, and stakeholders have identified problems confronting these water bodies. Authorities need to understand the immense significance of these urban water bodies, which have been neglected in the last three decades,” Wangnoo said.

“Our experience on the ground over the last three decades shows that conservation projects fail when local expertise is ignored.  NLCO has been undertaking cleaning on the twin lakes out of its own resources, and we are ready to offer our free services for the restoration of these lakes,” he added.
