Ensure road connectivity to remote areas in winter: Div Com to BEACON authorities
Srinagar, Dec 5: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today asked the BEACON authorities to ensure proper maintenance of roads, timely snow clearance for connectivity to remote habitations.
According to an official press release, he convened a meeting to review the maintenance of roads and timely snow clearance in Border Districts to ensure road connectivity to remote areas during the winter season.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from BEACON besides District Administrations.
Addressing the meeting, Div Com directed for ensuring regular maintenance of roads under the jurisdiction of BEACON for smooth movement of vehicles and constant supply chain of essential commodities to peripheral habitations.
He also directed for advance deployment of machinery for clearing snow from major roads during the winter season.
The meeting was informed that all the required numbers of men and machinery have been put at different locations in a standby position to ensure opening of roads simultaneously.
Meanwhile, Div Com reviewed construction of retaining wall of Road at Thune Kangan in Ganderbal which had been damaged by landslide.
On the occasion, Div Com directed concerned Beacon officers to start the construction work for the retaining wall from Monday on the critical portion to be identified by DC Ganderbal so that the road shall be restored at the earliest for transportation.
Div Com also reviewed road safety measures in the landslide prone areas of the districts and impressed on district administrations to work out the mitigation plan to protect roads and other infrastructure from damage besides precious human lives.
While reviewing the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Div Com enjoined for intensifying the campaign to educate the general public in every panchayat about centrally sponsored welfare schemes.
