Encounter underway in Lolab

Kupwara, July 23: Security forces established contact with terrorists near Trimukha Top in the Lolab Valley of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday and the operation is in progress.

According to official sources, the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint operation following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the densely forested area of Trimukha Top.

“The terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area. Acting on credible information, we launched an operation to neutralise the threat,” said a senior Police officer who declined to disclose the number of terrorists trapped inside the cordoned area.

The area has been cordoned off, and additional reinforcements have been called in to assist in the operation.

Drones and other surveillance equipment are being used to monitor the movements of the terrorists in the area.
