Jammu, Aug 11: Security forces and terrorists Sunday exchanged fresh gunfire in the Khaned area of upper reaches in Jammu's Udhampur district. On Tuesday, contact was established between terrorists and security forces in this area during an anti-terror operation launched in Khaned and peripheral areas of Basantgarh Police Station.

The exchange of gunfire lasted for a brief period on Tuesday after which an anti-terror operation was going on in the area with dense forests and tough terrain. On Sunday, the officials said, a fresh exchange of gunfire took place between security forces and terrorists in the area that lasted for a brief period.

“An anti-terrorist operation was going on in the area for the last several days when contact got established between the security forces and terrorists and a brief exchange of fire occurred,” the officials said. “Ongoing anti-terror operation in the area has been expedited.”

The presence of some terrorist groups is being suspected in upper and dense forest-covered areas of the Udhampur district with massive anti-terror operations going on.
