Encounter over at Hiranagar, search operation still on: ADGP Jammu
Jammu, June 12: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu zone Anand Jain Wednesday stated that the encounter underway at Hiranagar concluded with the neutralisation of two terrorists by security forces, demonstrating perfect synergy, however the search operation was still on.
The possibility of more terrorists hiding could not be ruled out, he said, while responding to media queries here at Samba.
With regard to a question about recoveries following the encounter, he said, “Weapons, IEDs, grenades have been recovered. Search in the area is still on. The possibility of more terrorists hiding cannot be ruled out.”
When asked about the modus operandi (of the operation), ADGP Jain said, “In this (Hiranagar) encounter, a newly (freshly) infiltrated group (of terrorists) is there. Following infiltration, they were sighted in the village Saida. The operation was launched immediately after getting inputs (about their presence), jointly by army, CRPF and police. The operation was conducted with perfect synergy and that’s why we could neutralise them quickly.”
He informed that one of the terrorists was killed on Tuesday night while one CRPF soldier and a civilian also sustained injuries. “CRPF jawan succumbed to his injuries while the civilian was stable. Second holed up terrorist, with US-made M4 Carbine, was killed in the forests this afternoon,” he said.
He stated that the identity and the terror group to which they (terrorists) were affiliated were still being ascertained. “This is still a matter of investigation,” he said.
Regarding the Chattargala (Doda) terror attack, ADGP said that firing (by terrorists) took place there also on Tuesday night. “It was a combined naka of army, CRPF and police personnel. Search in the area is still going on,” he said.
