Encounter breaks out in Thanamandi

Rajouri, Sep 29: Security forces and terrorists exchanged gunfire at Manyal Gali in Thanamandi during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) launched over suspicious movement from this area on Sunday.

The CASO was launched in the evening hours on Sunday after security forces received information regarding suspicious movement from the area.

Joint teams of the Army and Police rushed to the spot and started a search operation.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain said that during this operation, contact was established and fa ew rounds were fired from both sides.

“The area has been cordoned off and further details are awaited while the operation is underway,” he said.

Regarding the operation, ADGP Jain said that this operation was launched over specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists.

“Joint search operation was launched by security forces at Manyal Gali in the jurisdiction of Police Station Thanamandi in Rajouri,” he said.  “Contact has been established and a few rounds were fired from both the sides.”

Manyal Gali is a village located around 7 km from Thanamandi town and falls on Thanamandi-Surankote road which is also a connecting road to Mughal Road.
