Encounter breaks out in Rajouri

Rajouri, Oct 7: An encounter erupted in Rajouri district with an exchange of fire between the personnel of Special Operation Group (SoG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and terrorists at Beeranthub area late Tuesday evening.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone, B S Tutti said, “An exchange of fire has taken place between terrorists and Special Operation Group (SoG) team in Beeranthub area of Kandi police station jurisdiction.”

He said, “The joint parties of police, army and CRPF have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.”

Official sources on the other hand said that teams of SOG launched a search operation in this area located near the upper reaches of border district Rajouri.

The operation, they said, was launched on the basis of specific information about the suspicious movement of terrorists.
