Militant killed in ongoing encounter in north Kashmir's Kupwara

Srinagar, Mar 17: A terrorist was killed in an ongoing encounter in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday, reports said.

Quoting sources, news agency JKNS reported that a terrorist was killed in the ongoing gunfight in the Krumbhoora area of Zachaldara Rajwar in Kupwara district. Other reports suggested that an AK-47 rifle and other ammunition has been recovered from the possession of the slain militant.

A police spokesman said that the encounter broke out after the police and security forces launched a search operation in the area following a specific input.

He said the hiding terrorists fired upon security forces which retaliated, triggering an encounter.
