Srinagar, Oct 25: The Kashmir Welfare Trust (KWT) successfully organised its annual humanitarian initiative, Mission Wushnare 2025, marking the onset of winter with a focus on compassion and relief. The event, held at Bilaliya Educational Institute, Lal Bazar, was led by KWT Chairman Manzoor Wangnoo and aimed at supporting underprivileged families across both urban and rural areas of the Valley.

Under the initiative, nearly 400 deserving families received winter kits including pherans, thermals, warm clothing, dress materials, kangris, emergency lights, caps, sweaters, and food items. The program reflects KWT’s ongoing commitment to providing timely humanitarian aid during Kashmir’s harsh winters.

The event was graced by Dr G. N. Qasba, former SMC Commissioner, as the Chief Guest, who highlighted the importance of creating sustainable employment opportunities to ease the financial challenges faced by economically weaker families.

As part of KWT’s Self-Empowerment Initiative, sewing machines were distributed among women to promote livelihood opportunities, while handcarts with vegetables were provided to individuals seeking dignified means of earning. Chairman Wangnoo said, “Empowerment through assistance is our priority. Giving a hand is better than merely giving in hand. As the proverb says, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
