Empowering Elders

I commend Greater Kashmir for the initiative of introducing the Senior Citizens Lounge, a platform dedicated to promoting the wellness of senior citizens. As a senior myself, I have observed a significant challenge faced by many elders, which is financial difficulty. A considerable number of seniors belong to the lower-income bracket and struggle to meet even their basic needs, let alone cover expenses for medications and medical tests.

In this regard, the Senior Citizens Lounge could play a vital role in assisting seniors. I propose the establishment of an organization exclusively dedicated to the health and well-being of seniors. This organization should focus on providing support to vulnerable elders who have been neglected by their families.

However, its scope should not be limited to only marginalized seniors; it should also extend its assistance to those who have financial means but lack adequate caregiving facilities. The organization should actively identify seniors in need of urgent medical assistance and provide them with the necessary support and care.

This organization would cater to the needs of economically disadvantaged elders, ensuring they receive the necessary support and care. Additionally, it could offer services such as medical assistance, counseling, and social support to enhance the overall well-being of seniors in the community. Through such efforts, we can ensure that every senior citizen, regardless of their financial situation, receives the care and support they deserve in their golden years.
