Employee terminations continue in Kashmir despite elected govt: Mehbooba Mufti
Srinagar, Feb 15: Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today expressed displeasure over termination of three government employees from their services, and said the practice is going unabated despite an elected government in power.
She said the practice has become a daily routine since 2019, and said people had exuded hope on the popular government expecting such actions will come to an end.
Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter) Mehbooba said: “Arbitrary & summary dismissals of government employees has become a daily occurrence since 2019. What is perhaps most surprising & puzzling is that it continues unabated despite an elected government in power that had promised to put an end to such practices once in office”.
“People had pinned their hopes on the new government expecting at least some relief through vigorous advocacy of these issues with the LG,” she added on X.

On Saturday Lieutenant Governor-led administration ordered the termination of three government employees allegedly involved in anti-national activities.
Those dismissed from services include police constable Firdous Ahmad Bhat, teacher Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, and forest department orderly Nisar Ahmad Khan.
Sources said the trio in question are currently lodged in different jails for their alleged involvement in activities deemed prejudicial to the security of the state.
The administration has invoked Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India to carry out the terminations, which allows for the dismissal of government employees without an inquiry in cases involving national security concerns.
The action follows a series of similar dismissals in recent years, as the J&K administration intensifies its efforts to root out employees suspected of having links with militancy. Since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, dozens of government employees have been removed from service on similar charges.
