Employee leader felicitated on superannuation
Srinagar, May 27: The G R Beigh Memorial Foundation, Government Employees Conference, and NGEWA-SKIMS came together to honour noted employee advocacy and social outreach leader, Ishtiyaq Beigh on his superannuation.
A joint statement of G R Beigh Memorial Foundation, Government Employees Conference, and NGEWA-SKIMS issued here said that having dedicated decades of his life to public service and employee welfare, Beigh's journey from the corridors of SKIMS to the protest grounds of Jantar Mantar has been one marked by courage, clarity, and commitment.
The statement said that as a relentless trade unionist, his leadership during demonstrations in New Delhi became a defining moment in highlighting the infrastructural and policy-related challenges faced by healthcare employees in the region.
His voice was not just heard, it was felt, a colleague of Beigh said, underscoring his role in bringing employee concerns into public and policy discourse.
The statement said that his activism was never limited to rhetoric and consistently translated into action and tangible outcomes.
It said that Beighs legacy also includes a record-setting contribution to voluntary service, notably through blood donation drives organised under his leadership.
The statement said that these initiatives saw the highest participation among employee unions, serving as a testament to his ability to galvanise collective goodwill and foster a culture of selflessness.
It said that his compassion extended far beyond workplace boundaries.
ìFrom organising free medical camps for displaced Kashmiri Pandit families in Vessu, Qazigund, to reaching out to Sikh communities in Chhottugam, Tral, and offering health services at revered religious sites including Kheer Bhawani, Sharika Devi, Hazratbal, and Dastgeer Sahib, Beigh exemplified inclusive outreach and inter-community solidarity,î the statement said.
It said that as Chairman of the G R Beigh Memorial Foundation, his initiatives were anchored in justice, empathy, and inclusivity.
The colleagues recalled his leadership style as one that inspired trust and bridged divides, setting a high bar for people-centered unionism.
Ishtiyaq Sahibs name has become synonymous with integrity and action,î said one member of the NGEWA-SKIMS. ìHis departure from active service marks the end of an era, but his influence will continue to shape our future.î
