Emergency cabinet meeting held in Jammu
Jammu, Apr 29: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday convened an emergency meeting of his cabinet colleagues at his residence in Jammu.
A local news gathering agency KNO reported that the cabinet meeting was held at the Chief Ministerís residence at Wazarat Road in Jammu.
It said that all his cabinet colleagues were present in the meeting.
The meeting assumed significance in the wake of the April 22 deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 persons, mostly tourists, dead.
After the attack, the CM had also held a cabinet meeting in Srinagar and announced an ex-gratia relief package for victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
CM Omar had expressed profound shock and anguish over the heinous terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam on April 22, terming it a barbaric and senseless act of brutality against innocent civilians.
As a mark of solidarity and support, the J&K government had announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 10 lakh each for the Next of Kin (NoK) of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh for those seriously injured, and Rs 1 lakh for those who sustained minor injuries.
Reiterating the governmentís firm resolve to combat terrorism, CM Omar had said, ìTerror will never break our resolve. We will not rest until those behind this barbarity are brought to justice.î
The CM had also convened an All-Party Meeting to discuss the fallout of the Pahalgam terror attack.
